01/07/2026

Among the vast pastures of the Seckau Alps, in the heart of Austrian Styria, stands the Maria Neve Chapel (Maria Schnee), a small alpine church that has served as a gathering place for mountain travelers for centuries. On Sunday, August 2, 2026, you can join us on a journey along one of the most picturesque stretches of the Romea Strata, enjoying an experience that brings together landscape, culture, and local traditions.
The walk, organized by the members of AERS Benedikt be-WEG-t, winds through woods, high-altitude pastures, and open panoramic views over the Alps. It is not just a hike, but a way to connect with a history of ancient paths, hospitality, and bonds that still characterize the Romea Strata today.
Upon arrival at the Maria Neve Chapel, Holy Mass will be celebrated, accompanied by the songs of the Reisberger Sternsinger group, in a simple and authentic atmosphere that reflects the deep connection between these mountains and local traditions.
Program:
- Meeting Point: 7:30 AM at Seckau Abbey.
- Departure: Following a short drive to the Kühberger farm parking lot, the group will set off at 8:00 AM to reach the Maria Neve Chapel.
- Route Specs: Approximately 6 km long with an elevation gain of about 700 meters.
- Mass: The celebration will begin at 10:00 AM.
