Bottom-Up Tourism Seminar on the Romea Strata

The Romea Strata, a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe, will be at the heart of a new discussion dedicated to religious and cultural tourism and the participatory processes involving territories and local communities.

A Research Seminar dedicated to the topic: “Bottom-up processes in religious and cultural tourism along a Council of Europe Cultural Route. Polish examples from the Via Romea Strata” will be held within the Global Cultures and Digital Communication course of the Master’s Degree in Communication Strategies at the University of Padua.

The seminar, which will take place on December 2nd at the University of Padua, will offer an in-depth look at the creation of religious and cultural tourism products and the role of local communities in the development of the rural areas and historic cities crossed by the route, with particular attention to the experience gained along the Romea Strata in Poland.

Leading the discussion will be a team of experts from UKEN – University of the National Education Commission in Krakow: Anna Kolasińska, Franciszek Mróz, Matylda Siwek, and Małgorzata Zdon-Korzeniowska, who have been dedicated for years to the study and promotion of cultural routes.

The meeting represents an important opportunity for dialogue between the academic world, the territories, and tourism operators, to reflect on how the bottom-up approach can contribute to the sustainable development of the routes and improve the experience of pilgrims and travelers along the Romea Strata.
