Romea Strata between Friuli and Veneto: a walking experience

On Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22, 2026, a new trekking event dedicated to the Romea Strata returns to Northern Italy. Organized by Agriturismo Le Crede 1930 in Portogruaro (Venice), this initiative invites you to discover one of Europe’s most significant cultural and religious routes.

The excursion covers the scenic stretch from San Vito al Tagliamento (PN) to Concordia Sagittaria (VE), crossing historic villages and river landscapes on the border between the Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions.

The Romea Strata: a European Cultural Route

Part of an ancient pilgrimage network, the Romea Strata covers over 1,400 km from Tarvisio to Rome. This event is a unique opportunity to experience a piece of history, following the footsteps of ancient pilgrims heading to the Eternal City.

Event program & route details

  • Meeting Point: 7:45 AM at Agriturismo Le Crede 1930 (Portogruaro).
  • The Route: Two stages totaling 29 km (22 km on day one + 7 km on day two) over flat, accessible terrain.
  • Expert Guides: Led by Chiara Coassin and Filippo Baracchi (AIGAE-certified environmental hiking guides), sharing insights into local nature, history, and culture.

Available services & participation

  • Final Meal: Traditional refreshment available upon reservation.
  • Accommodations: Overnight stay at the agriturismo farmhouse.
  • Coop Members: Special discounts available.
  • Participation Fee: €20 per stage.

This project promotes the Romea Strata in the Portogruaro area, near the historic village of Portovecchio. Le Crede 1930 serves as an official welcome point for pilgrims and a future distribution hub for the Pilgrim Credentials.
