Latvia ON FOOT: a PILGRIMAGE of quiet spirituality through Pristine Landscape and HERITAGE SITES
In Latvia, the Romea Strata follows the Latvian Camino of St James, stretching from the Estonian border in the North to the Lithuanian border in the South, passing through such member cities of the powerful Medieval Hanseatic League as Valmiera, Cēsis, and the capital city Riga, as well as the early Christian sites in the Baltics at Turaida and Krimulda.
The road winds through quiet meadows, wooded areas, and small villages, along river banks and the sandy coast of the Gulf of Riga. Pilgrims follow the official Latvian Camino signage, marked by the scallop shell or arrow. Some sites carry also the Romea Strata logo.
This stretch offers both insight into local heritage and an introspective experience, where the landscape invites reflection and the journey takes on personal depth.
