Pilgrimage Promotional Tour 2024
From Sejny to Krakow, walking the Romea Strata in Poland
06/06/2025

From June 9th to 19th, 2024, the third edition of the Pilgrimage Promotional Tour took place, the European pilgrimage along the ancient Romea Strata route. In this edition, the journey traversed the entirety of Poland, from Sejny to Krakow, covering a 1,062-kilometer path divided into 42 stages.
It was a slow and authentic journey, open to anyone wishing to discover the spirituality and beauty of the path by walking through natural landscapes, historical sites, and lesser-known villages. Each stage provided an opportunity to live and share the pilgrimage experience, immersing oneself in the culture and tradition of Poland.
The itinerary was meticulously mapped by the Department of Geography of the Pedagogical University of Krakow, thanks to the work of Prof. Franciszek Mróz and his team. After three years of research, they successfully uncovered the ancient route of the pilgrims to Rome (Romei pilgrims).
The journey concluded in Krakow.
The Pilgrimage Promotional Tour 2024 marked a fundamental step in the project to rediscover the Romea Strata. This itinerary now exceeds 4,000 km and connects Tallinn to Rome, passing through Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Italy. It is a geo-referenced, accessible trail, recognized for its cultural, spiritual, and tourism value.
