On foot along the Romea Tuscia: from the Tuscan hills to the Eternal City

The Romea Tuscia guides pilgrims from Fucecchio to Rome, crossing some of the most captivating landscapes of central Italy. The route unfolds between Tuscany and Lazio, following ancient paths trodden over the centuries by travelers and pilgrims bound for the tombs of Saints Peter and Paul.

Along the journey, you will encounter cities of art, historic villages, and places of immense spiritual and cultural value, from San Miniato to Siena, and from Acquapendente to Bassano Romano, all the way to the capital. Since 2025, the entry into Rome follows the pedestrian and cycle path connecting Monte Mario to Monte Ciocci, which opens up to a striking view of St. Peter’s Dome, the symbol of your imminent arrival.

Winding through rolling hills, gravel roads, and ancient stone pavements, the Romea Tuscia offers an authentic slow-tourism experience. It is a journey to discover the cultural heritage, local traditions, and warm hospitality that define one of the most fascinating pilgrimage routes to Rome.
