Romea Claudia Augusta
Walking the Claudia Augusta: Alps, memory, and the river’s call
The Claudia Augusta enters Italy at Resia Pass, where the lone church tower rises from the lake—part ruin, part legend. From there, the trail follows the ancient Roman route that once linked the Danube to Rome.
Through Burgusio, Prato allo Stelvio, Naturno and Merano, you walk alongside mountain streams, vineyards and castles, always near the river. In Bolzano, cultures meet in stone and language.
Then comes Ora and Salorno, followed by Trento and Rovereto, where the Bell of the Fallen rings with memory and peace.
Guided by Romea Strata signs and GPS tracks, this path lets you walk with history, not just through it.
