Romea Aquileiense
Walking from Miren or Manzano to Aquileia: a journey into Roman heritage
The Via Romea Aquileiense leads to Aquileia, a Roman city and spiritual hub of the Romea Strata. It begins in Miren (Slovenia) or via a variant from Manzano (Italy), crossing historic villages, Friulian countryside, and Renaissance fortresses.
Walkers follow the Romea Strata signs, or an orange arrow on a white background. Along the way, towns like Gradisca d’Isonzo, Aiello del Friuli, and Palmanova invite quiet exploration.
From Isonzo fields to Aquileia’s ancient stones, every step opens a new page of Europe’s past—a peaceful, slow journey rooted in landscape and story.
